The fun never stops when you are at the shore. Luckily, this week we have many events lined up for you to enjoy daily. Why not start off the week with Tales of the Victorians as it returns for its twenty-fourth year? This event will take place at The Chalfonte Hotel, 301 Howard Street in Cape May on July 11th at 4pm. This show is for all ages so make sure to bring your friends and family for a great afternoon.
Enjoy Thursdays on the Lawn Summer Concert Series featuring Jim Bannach of BLT on July 11th beginning at 7:30 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Stone Harbor.
One of the big events that you do not want to miss this summer is the New Jersey State Barbeque Championship and Anglesea Blues Festival July 12th to the 14th. The festival lasts all weekend – Friday 4 pm to 11 pm, Saturday 10 am to 11 pm, and Sunday 10 am to 6 pm. It is free for all to come so make sure you do not miss out on the live music and great barbequed cuisine!
On July 13th, display your boogie skills at the Boogie Board Competition at 9am on 15th and Beach Avenues in North Wildwood. This competition is for boys and girls ages 5-18 years old. Registration begins at 9am and the contest will begin at 10am. There will be prizes for the winner but you must bring your own board. To complete your day head over to the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor for the Sunset Soiree and Open House at 6:30pm. The “island style” soiree will put you into the summer spirit as the sounds of live reggae music echo through the marsh at sunset. Here you can talk about the research projects, conservation and education initiatives, live animal demonstrations and look behind the scenes at the research labs and aquarium. There will be an assortment of amazing seafood from some of the top restaurants in the area and special samplings from the Washington Inn. Tickets are $75. Enjoy a free Concert under the Stars featuring Real Diamond, a tribute to Neil Diamond. The concert is on July 13th beginning at 8pm at Excursion Park in Sea Isle City.
Enjoy fishing and competitions? You may want to participate in the 20th Annual Duke of Fluke Fishing Tournament on July 14th starting at 7:30am at the Sterling Harbor Bait & Tackle in Wildwood. There is an entrance fee for all participants. This is South Jersey’s largest fluke tournament. There will be live music, a pig roast, BBQ and an awards ceremony starting at 6pm. All you fisherman out there, get your poles and come on out!
If you are not interested in fishing, you might enjoy the Boardwalk Craft Show on July 14th at 9am on Rio Grande Avenue. Come out and enjoy some crafts that are all handmade. Or you can stop by the VFW Post 386 in Cape May on July 14th to enjoy some Traditional Jazz and Dixieland music performed by Hot Taters. The event is from 2pm to 4pm and admission costs $20 at the door. All proceeds are donated to the Food Bank of Southern Jersey to help support local needs. Free parking, cash bar and optional dinner at 4:30pm!
The music never stops… Catch theFree Concert featuring Jars of Clay on July 15th beginning at 7:30pm at the Ocean City Music Pier. Is it possible to meet Santa in July? It sure is. Hang out with Santa on July 16th at Excursion Park beginning at 6:30pm in Sea Isle City.

Don’t miss out on the Crabulous Crab Day at the Wetlands Institute on July 19th from 9:30am to 3:00pm! Learn how to crab at the dock and take crab cooking lessons from the area chefs. Compete in a Crabbing tournament, crab racing, and hermit crab beauty pageants. There will be crab games, aquarium feedings, crafts and more! Tickets are $10 for an adult or $8 for a child. For members, tickets will be $8 for adults and $6 for children.
