WILDWOOD – Independence Day will find this city ablaze with the sound of The Philly POPS when the world-famous orchestra performs a rip-roaring musical celebration with its Salute Series performance honoring our nation’s shared traditions, values, and collective commitment to service.
“I am thrilled that The Philly POPS is performing in Wildwood,” said Mayor Ernie Troiano. “The Fourth of July is a huge holiday in the city and having The POPS perform that evening will be the highlight of an already fantastic day.”
Launched 36 years ago, The Philly POPS is the largest stand-alone POPS orchestra in the United States. The orchestra’s president and chief executive officer, Frank Giordano, stated, “We are thrilled to bring our orchestra to Wildwood and participate in your exciting 4th of July festivities. We look forward to providing a music experience that is entertaining and fun for everyone.”
And fun is exactly what’s on Wildwood’s schedule this July 4th. Wildwood, with its world-famous Boardwalk, wide, free beaches, shore cuisine and doo-wop décor, is just the place to experience a fun-filled Fourth, including the free, outdoor POPS concert in Fox Park along with a spectacular fireworks event following the show.
The concert, led by Maestro Michael Krajewski, will include well-known and well-loved patriotic tunes featuring Broadway vocalist Capathia Jenkins and the Voices of the Philly POPS. Selections will include “The Star Spangled Banner,” “Stars and Stripes,” the “Armed Forces Salute” and “God Bless America.”
“This concert will be history-making,” said Troiano. “We want everyone to experience the sounds of the Philly POPS. Wildwood is a world-class vacation destination. We look forward to having this world-class orchestra celebrate July 4th with us, Wildwood-style.”
