For this week’s column we decided to take a look back at all of our favorite drinks from our favorite Cape May County spots this summer.
The Carribean Breeze – The Porch at Elaine’s
A cocktail mixed with equal parts Strawberry and Coconut Cruzan Rum shaken with Orange and Pineapple juices. Black Barrel rum was added to the top as a floater and garnished with a kabob of Strawberry, Pineapple and Blueberries. The exotic drink is served with a knotted straw for easy consumption.
Woo Woo – Tuckahoe Inn
Stoli Vodka is poured into a glass with ice and Peach Schnapps and Cranberry juice are layered on top. The mixture is shaken and then poured back into its original glass and garnished with an orange for enjoyment. The pink hue of the drink is attractive and the taste is delicious – a nice sweet, but tart flavor.
Basil Bourbon Lemonade – Axelsson’s Blue Claw
Bulleit Bourbon is combined with fresh basil, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and a splash of club soda. The cocktail is then garnished with a slice of lemon and basil. This delicious and refreshing drink is perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or to pair with one of Axelsson’s great dinner entrees or bar specials.
Harpoon Breeze – Harpoon Henry’s
The delicious drink takes Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka and mixes it with Lemonade and Cranberry Juice. It is then garnished with a lime and cherry. The refreshing drink is a summer time favorite among customers and even owner, Teresa Henry!
2 Mile Sangria and Crab House Sangria – Two Mile Restaurant and Crab House
Two Mile Sangria is made with muddled orange and lime, merlot, blackberry brandy, and orange and cranberry juice; a truly flavorful combination. If you are in the mood for white Sangria, the Crab House Sangria is your go-to option. This drink features muddled orange and lime, chardonnay, peach schnapps and pineapple juice.
High Dive – Casey’s on Third
The “High Dive” is a layering of Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka, Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice and Club Soda. It is served in a mason jar and garnished with cherries, lime and a lemon. The colorful cocktail is sure to give you a much needed break from the summer heat!
Violet Beauregarde Lemonade – Water Star Grille
The drink begins with fresh muddled blueberries. Next, lavender syrup, which gives the drink its flavor, is combined with fresh squeezed lemon juice and Brockman gin as well as a splash of soda. The mixture is then shaken up and poured. The result is a light purple hued drink that is not only delicious but refreshing.
Miami Vice – Harry’s Ocean Bar and Grille
If you are a lover of Pina Coladas and Strawberry Daiquiris, this is the drink for you as both are made and layered together in a cup and garnished with a cherry and orange. The mix results in a delicious drink that cools you off on even the hottest of days.
The Kona Cocktail – Dogtooth Bar and Grill
This hearty drink is 23 ounces of rum, vodka, liqueurs and juice finished with sprite and red bull, and to finish it off, garnished with an orange and cherry. The flavorful drink is a popular choice among patrons of the restaurant and for good reason.
The Mullitini – Mulligan’s Shore Bar
The Mullitini is 1/2 ounce of vodka, 1/2 ounce of triple sec, one ounce Sour Apple Pucker, one ounce Watermelon Pucker, a splash of pineapple juice, orange juice, and grenadine. It is completed with a cherry garnish. Enjoy with caution. “They’ll sneak up on you,” jokes bartender Jon. Yet it’s a challenge to have just one!
Key Lime Martini – 5 West Pub
The drink is three parts Absolut Citron, one part Licor 43, mixed with Nellie and Joe’s Key West Lime Juice and Half and Half. The mixture is then shaken and poured into a chilled martini glass with graham cracker around the edges and a lime for garnish. Try this drink on a hot day, cool down and pretend you are on vacation in the Keys.
