Bark by popular demand, Morey’s Piers goes completely to the dogs on Saturday, Sept. 8. With a full line-up of fido-friendly events, pups, mutts and purebreds of all shapes and sizes are invited to celebrate the dog days of summer.
The Doggie Dash kicks-off the tail-wagging events at 10 a.m. on Sept. 8 when pooches set the pace for the 5K and 1 mile races on the beach adjacent to Raging Waters Water Park. Participant prizes include a dog tag finisher medal for dogs, an official doggie dash leash and a commemorative T-shirt. After the dash, dogs and owners will be treated to a beachside finisher’s celebration with music, food, games and activities.
New for 2018, Doggie Dash participants can add on a Doggie Splash admission for $10 granting access to the water park right after the race. The exclusive 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. time slot is only available to Doggie Dash participants.
The day continues with a splash for the fifth annual puppy pool party at Raging Waters “Water Bark.” From 12 to 5 p.m., Morey’s Piers will host nine different one-hour long sessions that are staggered throughout the day to accommodate admission for more dogs. Celebrating the close of the water park for the season, canines have free rein to paddle along the river adventure, play in the fountain pool or fetch tennis balls in the activity pool.
Morey’s is once again partnering with Team Foster, a nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to pair service dogs with Tri-state area veterans suffering from combat-related disabilities. Five dollars from every Doggie Dash registration will be donated to Team Foster, which will cover the cost of obtaining the dogs, the dogs’ care and specialized training team, at no cost to veterans.
