The Masterworks Choir Presents ‘Bach: Mass in A Major’

On Thursday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m., The Masterworks Choir and Orchestra will present “Bach: Mass in A Major” at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 8th Street and Central Avenue, Ocean City.

The choir will be accompanied by Scott Breiner – Organist, and a chamber orchestra.  Featured soloists will include Nancy Fox – Soprano, Robert Laird – Tenor, Florence Moyer – Alto and Robert Snodgrass – Baritone. John Gregory Bate is the Musical Director and Conductor.

This Mass in A Major is two movements long and is accompanied by a string quartet, two flutes and organ. It was composed from movements of other Bach works. The parody process or “borrowing” music from other works was very popular during Bach’s time.

Admission to the concert is free and tickets are not required. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

A freewill offering will be received.

Parking is available on Central Avenue in the lot next to the church. There is also a handicapped accessible lot behind the church on Wesley Avenue between 7th and 8th streets.
