Dennis Michael Wins DoTheShore Local Talent Search Contest

Capturing 49% of the total vote, Dennis Michael and his song, “I Wonder If You Ever Think Of Me”, proved to be the favorite of the DoTheShore audience during the 2015 Local Talent Search. We caught up with the Philadelphia native to find out more about the man and the music.

Michael grew up with 8 siblings. He developed a passion for music early in life. At age 13, Michael began playing the guitar and writing his own music. His inspiration came from the Beatles, the Eagles and Bob Dylan. After playing at bars and restaurants in Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore he found himself drawn to Nashville.

With a rock and blues sound, Nashville was the perfect place for Michael to be to begin his journey to a record deal. His love of country music made him feel right at home.

While in Nashville, Michael was into the partying scene. When he travelled to Memphis to play his music, he ended up staying in and reading Gideon’s Bible. “This is when the Lord touched me. I can’t even explain it,” Michael said. This new passion replaced his musical endeavors for a short time. After his mother’s passing on Mother’s Day 2012, Michael wrote a song for her. He then continued to write a series of songs called “God Incidents.” This new style of music is what led him back to Nashville and into the TMC Recording Studio.

Michael encourages all aspiring singer-songwriters to dream big because anything is possible. “Try to surround yourself with positive people,” he said.
