AVALON – The members of the Avalon Historical Society will host their annual Holiday Party on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. inside the Avalon History Center, located at 215 39th St., Avalon. The public is invited to enjoy food and refreshments, music, a festive atmosphere and good company.
The party will also feature the display of an 1889 painting of Avalon by Joseph Wells, one of the founders of the Seven Mile Beach Company. The painting was donated by Mrs. Dee Phillips of Middle Township. Based on a view of Avalon’s landscape from atop a sand dune, it depicts the Avalon Hotel, several residential homes, forestry and the ocean.
