A California tradition has made its way to the East Coast: beach volleyball! Since the early 1900s, it has been a favorite summertime activity found on many beaches. The equipment involved is simple – a volleyball, a net and some friends! Most beaches and parks have designated courts with nets. Official game rules call for teams of two or six, but the game can be leisurely played with as many or as little team members you have available.
In addition to being a great beach pastime, beach volleyball serves as an excellent way to stay healthy and meet new people. Bump on over to DoTheShore.com/events to find upcoming competitions. Grab a ball and your friends, head to your local beach or park, find an empty court and start playing!
