Twist Sensation Chubby Checker in Cape May

Celebrating the 55th Anniversary of “The Twist” in Cape May, Monday, July 18

CAPE MAY – July continues to heat up with the City of Cape May’s Summer Concert Series, moving on from country, rock and bluegrass to popular “twist sensation” Chubby Checker. Checker is scheduled to appear at the Cape May Convention Hall on Monday, July 18 at 8 p.m.

In 1960, Chubby Checker introduced the iconic song and dance “The Twist” at the Rainbow Club in Wildwood. The hit went on to become the only single to top the Billboard Hot 100 twice, in two separate chart runs. In addition, Checker moved forward in releasing a variety of chart-topping classics including “Pony Time,” “The Fly,” “Let’s Twist Again,” “Limbo Rock,” “Hucklebuck” and “Changes.” Checker remains the only artist to have five albums in the Top 12, all at once and to have nine double-sided hits.

“The Twist” is currently celebrating its 55th anniversary from the premiere in Wildwood, and it’s only fitting that Checker returns to South Jersey this July to “twist again,” like he did that summer. The audience is guaranteed to dance the night away with a variety of Checker’s top hits through the decades. Enjoy the nostalgia of summer nights in South Jersey with this iconic performance, and get your tickets fast before they sell out!
