Top 5 Drinks of the Week for Summer 2018

Based on Facebook comments, like and shares, these are the top five crowd favorites for summer 2018!

5. El Chapo from 5 West Pub – June 22

Although cool and refreshing, El Chapo is far from your average fruity summer cocktail. El Chapo mixes a wide range of flavors to bring us a unique taste, made with muddled strawberries, Aperol (an orange Italian liqueur), Hendrick’s Gin and grapefruit beer. The finishing touch is a strawberry garnish. This light, bubbly drink is mostly sweet and a tiny bit sour. With every sip, you’ll find a tiny fizz and fresh strawberry bits!

4. Bushwhacker from PigDog Beach Bar – July 27

The Bushwhacker – a frozen drink from PigDog’s extensive cocktail menu – is every kid-at-heart’s dream! It’s made with Cruzan Black Strap Rum, Kahlúa and ice cream base. A chocolate syrup-lined cup adds some sweet flavor. The creamy concoction is similar to a chocolate milkshake, full of dessert-like deliciousness, but with a nice kick. Who said milkshakes aren’t for adults?

3. Green Tea Shot from The Deck at Holly Beach – June 29

If you aren’t familiar with the Green Tea Shot, it might surprise you that it doesn’t actually contain green tea. The mixture is made with two parts Jamison Irish Whiskey, one part peach schnapps, a splash of sour mix and a splash of Sprite over ice, then divided among shot glasses. While there’s no green tea in the mix, this whiskey shooter gets its name from its greenish color. The taste reflects bright and soothing peachy flavors, and is perfect for those who are new to the world of whiskey.

2. Strawberry Shortcake Martini from Cape May Distillery – Aug. 10

Have your cake-inspired martini and eat it, too with the Strawberry Shortcake Martini! This scrumptious martini is made with Cape May Distillery’s own Strawberry Banana Rum, sweet Italian cream and a splash of strawberry daiquiri mix. The creamy, pale pink mixture then goes into a martini glass rimmed with chocolate syrup. A juicy strawberry garnish is the finishing touch. The result is like a slice of cake (and heaven) in a glass, and a perfectly sweet way to cool down on a warm summer day.

1. Atlantic Punch Bucket from Toll Man Joe’s Bayside – Aug. 24

The Atlantic Punch Bucket is a frenzy of sweet, fruity, tropical flavors, and plenty of rum to get you feeling good! It’s made with Bacardi Superior Rum, Bacardi Coconut Rum, blue curaçao, sour mix, pineapple juice and a splash of club, and garnished with a cherry and orange slice. Served in a bucket, it’s the perfect cocktail to share with a friend while enjoying waterfront views.
