Joe & Josie, the talented duo, have quite a history of entertaining Cape May County crowds. Joe & Josie remained the full-time weekend band at Wildwood’s favorite hideaway on the waterway, the Wharf, for approximately ten years. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights were spent keeping the lively Wharf patrons singing along or on their feet.
When new owners took the Wharf reigns four years ago, Joe & Josie took their stellar two-man band talents elsewhere. But this summer season, much to Cape May County’s delight, Joe & Josie have made a triumphant return to the Wharf stage where so many patrons had fallen in love with their versatile set list over the years.
Joe of the Joe & Josie duo has been on the music scene for quite some time. Originally from the Burholme area of Northeast Philadelphia, Joe played keys full-time in a rock band until fifteen years ago. Around that time, he met and married current bandmate and wife, Josie. Joe, with a continued passion for the keyboard, and Josie, who conveniently loved to sing, decided to team up.
They first began playing in the Philadelphia area and a few shore towns, but have since made the permanent move to Cape May Court House and have become a Cape May County musical force.
It is hard to sum up a typical Joe & Josie show in a few short words. “We play a lot of material,” explains Joe. “We cover music eras from the 60s to the present.” Joe & Josie are sure to cater to the audience of each of their performances. “The Wharf is a really diversified place. You have families, some younger people, some older. There we play a family-friendly show. But Sea Isle City is a younger crowd. When we play there, we choose more current songs to cover.”
Overall, Joe & Josie’s set list is dependent on the venue and, more importantly, the listeners. From Top 40 covers to disco era dance tunes, and a range of medleys, do not expect to enjoy the same show twice.
Catch a Cape May County Joe & Josie performance every Monday at the Wharf in Wildwood or at other favorite hangouts such as the Country Club Tavern of Swainton, Avalon Links of Swainton, the Lobster Loft of Sea Isle City, and others. Joe & Josie are also available to play at private parties and for special occasions. For more information, contact Joe at joewish@verizon.net.
