Join The Reeds on Tuesday, August 16 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. for the fifth annual Reeds & Seeds Watermelon Festival at The Water Star Grille. First hosted by the hotel’s predecessor, the Shelter Haven Hotel, more than a century ago, Reeds & Seeds is a beloved Stone Harbor tradition. Locals and visitors alike are welcomed to gather for watermelon festivities, refreshments, entertainment and lots of fun in the Stone Harbor sun! The signature event of the festival is the Watermelon Eating Contest. Guests of all ages are invited to participate. Prizes include gift cards for Buckets Margarita Bar & Cantina. Children are encouraged to enter the Reeds & Seeds King & Queen contest honoring the boy and girl who most creatively answer: “Why I should be The Reeds King or Queen?” Other activities include family-friendly entertainment, games, such as Watermelon Pong, Ring Toss, Floating Ducks and more with fun prizes, watermelon snacks and drinks, watermelon crafts and carvings, cookie decorating, face painting and live music!
