Peter Max Returns to Ocean Galleries with Colorful Take on Classics

STONE HARBOR, NJ – The mention of Peter Max artwork typically brings to mind his famous cosmic paintings of the 1970s, with vibrant colors and psychedelic imagery. But the Master of “Pop” has always been on the cutting edge, using his signature style to create new artwork that has appealed to generations of fans and has demonstrated his innovative vision for decades.

When Peter Max returns to Ocean Galleries over Labor Day weekend, his latest collection of art truly offers something for everyone, from the famous cosmic-style imagery to beach scenes created specifically for the Stone Harbor, NJ exhibition to a recent take on classic works by Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, and Edward Degas. “Peter Max: The Master of ‘Pop’ Summer 2013 Collection” opens Thursday, August 29, 2013 and runs through Sunday, September 8, 2013. The exhibition will include a variety of original paintings, drawings, and limited-edition prints, all of which are available for acquisition. Peter Max will be at the gallery to sign purchased artwork during receptions from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.

“As Peter’s art has been arriving at the gallery, our entire staff has been in awe,” said Kim Miller, owner of Ocean Galleries. “The new art is distinctively Peter Max, but with a flair and feeling that we have never seen from him. We can’t wait to share the collection with his fans and our clientele.”

Throughout the last four decades, the artistry of Peter Max has continued to inspire the creative spirit and unbounded imagination within each of us as his colorful universe touches the heart with lines and brushstrokes of infinite creativity. Inspired by the Master artists before him, Peter’s newest series of classic artwork is an inspiration in itself. The artwork in the aptly named Master Series incorporates his colorful and vibrant style, but shows a softer, mellower side of the beloved artist’s immense range of talent.

Beyond the newest paintings, his collection serves as a timeline to what has happened across the country and around the globe, having captured major and global events in the arts, sports, technology, and the humanities. A recent project by Peter Max included painting the hull of the “Breakaway” Norwegian Cruise Lines newest ship, which made headlines throughout the world with the bold and eye-catching signature design that is often prominent in his art.
