Tom Massa, now 65, served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman attached to the Marine Corp during the Vietnam era and in the Army Reserve as a Military Police Officer for 10 years. In 1985, Massa was in an accident while employed as a bus driver for the NYC Transit Authority and was declared legally blind. Just two years later, in 1987, he began painting after receiving a paint set as a gift. Most of his paintings are shore-themed, and his most recent local work can be viewed from the Oceanic’s pool and Tiki Bar. This beautiful mural depicts a tropical beachfront and is perfect for the island-themed Oceanic atmosphere. Stop by daily to take in this wonderful work and sample a fruity cocktail at the Tiki Bar.
