Not All Plant Sales are the Same… This is a True Native Wildlife Plant Sale

Get your garden off to a great start after the long winter and come out to the Nature Center’s Spring Weekend Native Plant Sale on May 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. As always, the focus of this Wildlife Plant Sale is on native plants that attract hummingbirds, butterflies and songbirds, and also have a strong ornamental appeal to many landscapes. In addition to 50 perennials and several species of milkweed, 10 species of native trees and shrubs will be available.

As always, the advantage of this plant sale is the opportunity to tap into the knowledge of long-time local gardeners, backyard habitat experts and Master Gardeners. New this year is the elimination of pre-orders, but all previous customers will be given a 10 percent discount voucher and invited to “early-bird” shopping on Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m.

The list of plants expected to be available can be found on the website, www.njaudubon.org/centers/nccm. Lists can also be obtained by calling the center at (609) 898-8848 and requesting a list to be mailed, faxed or emailed to you.

Remember, the Nature Center’s Wildlife Plant Sale focuses on plants that attract hummingbirds, butterflies and songbirds. Popular with locals and visitors alike, this sale has a well-established tradition of featuring plants that are native, adaptable, beneficial to wildlife and often not available anywhere else. Also, it is the opportunity for enthusiasts and neophytes alike to obtain advice from long time local gardeners that makes this plant sale a much anticipated event for gardeners throughout the state.
