What better place to crown this week’s drink of the week than 7-Mile’s favorite nightlife hotspot, The Princeton of Avalon? I entered the beautiful brick building and took a seat at the sprawling marble-top bar. Just moments later, I was greeted by bartender Laura. Overwhelmed by the extensive cocktail and martini list she had handed me, I had no idea where to start. I eventually surrendered and requested her professional advice. I decided to go with my “ask the audience” lifeline and sample the Princeton’s most popular mixed cocktail. “That would probably be the Mango Madness,” Laura assured me. A few pours and shakes later, Laura presented me with a sleek martini glass filled to the brim with the Princeton’s signature “Mango Madness”.
This “mad” cocktail utilizes the best of citrus world and is finished with a fresh orange slice garnish. The secret reciped to the Mango Madness consists of Three Olives Mango Vodka, Peach Schnapps, and a splash of orange juice, and a splash of pineapple juice. Its tropical taste stirred thoughts of an island getaway while its fruity sweetness was not overdone. I found myself sipping and finishing this refreshing mango concoction in record time. In more of a martini mood? The Princeton features an array of delectable signature martinis as well. Laura recommends Princeton crowd favorites the “Vanilla Dream” (made with Absolut Vanilla, Coconut Rum, and a splash of pineapple juice) and the “Blue Balls” (mixed with Stoli Blueberry Vodka, a splash of Triple Sec, a splash of Lemonade, and garnished with two blueberries).
