Mixology 101 – Bartender of the Week

This week’s master mixologist hails from Woody’s Place of North Wildwood. Located in the former North Wildwood Fire House, Woody’s has a long history of lively staff and a “Cheers” atmosphere.

This week’s bartender of the week, Jimmy McKee, began working at Woody’s for the Hall family as a dishwasher when he was just a freshman in High School. Originally from the Philadelphia area, Jimmy attended Camden Catholic High School in the off-season, but faithfully returned to Woody’s throughout the summers of his high school years. After graduating, in 1978, Jimmy began his bartending career, working full-time behind the Woody’s bar. He’s been a Woody’s favorite character ever since.

Every one knows Jimmy makes fabulous Manhattans and Old Fashions! The ladies’ favorite request is the Pineapple Bomb, made with southern comfort, amaretto and pineapple juice. Jimmy himself is a Bud man…

When Jimmy is not behind the bar, he enjoys running, biking, going to the beach and working out at the gym. Staying fit is important to him.

What he loves most about his bartending career and working at Woody’s Place is meeting so many nice and funny people. “Being a sports fan, I have a wonderful job. I get to experience all the greatest sporting events including the Super Bowl, Kentucky Derby, Baseball, Basketball and Hockey championship games and get paid for it!“ exclaims Jimmy.

One of Jimmy’s most bizarre bartending experiences occurred during a NCAA championship game between Penn State and Miami. When Penn State intercepted the ball in the last 30 seconds to win the game, Mo Bixler was sitting at the bar and got so excited he jumped up and hit the hanging Budweiser Clydesdales above the bar and Don Buesing caught them just before they could smash on the bar top. Talk about a Woody’s miracle…
