Mixologist of the Week: Cape May Distillery

At Cape May Distillery, you can experience handcrafted spirits from the Cape made from locally grown raw ingredients sourced in the state of New Jersey. Learn all about the distilling process during a tour of the facility, then take a seat at the bar to taste the distillery’s varieties and meet our mixologist of the week, Colin O’Brien!

Colin has been working as a mixologist (or craftologist, as the distillery calls them) and brand ambassador for Cape May Distillery since fall 2017. He is originally from Connecticut, but now lives in Cape May Court House and works at the distillery year round. However, he’s no newbie to Cape May County. Growing up, Colin’s family owned property in Stone Harbor, so he’s been visiting the area since he was 4.

Colin’s mixology experience comes from his work as a golf pro for 10 years. “During member events I would often jump behind the bar,” he says. Although he does a little bit of everything at the distillery, he always enjoys meeting new patrons when crafting up cocktails. When he isn’t working, he enjoys golfing and going to the beach with his wife.

Sit back and relax at Cape May Distillery, and let Colin make you his favorite signature drinks! He doesn’t have one go-to, but he does have a preferred cocktail made with each type of the distillery’s rum: Beach Tag Mojito made with Beach Rum, Green Creek Mojito made with Barrel Rum, Blueberry Lemonade made with Blueberry Rum, Delaware Bay Breeze made with Toasted Coconut Rum and Strawberry Lemonade made with Strawberry Banana Rum. Come try them all! Visit capemay-distillery.com to view their full cocktail menu.
