Join the Community History Committee from the Center for Community Arts (CCA) as they discuss their research and collection of oral history from their award winning book, “A Feeling of Community.” Volunteers collected these stories over a 20+ year span, gathering a broad spectrum of lives, events, and perspectives on Cape May’s African American community.

Wetlands Institute Presents: Barrier Beach Ecology

The Jersey Shore is more than just sandy beaches – the barrier islands here support an entire unique ecosystem! From the turtles of the marsh to the crabs of the beach, we’ll discuss what exactly makes up a barrier island, what our islands would look like without the influence of humans, and meet an animal that lives in each of the many different zones of the islands.

Cape May: Pokémon Day Celebration

Cape May: An Evening with Authors

Ocean City Concert: Great Songwriters of The Twentieth Century

For this special concert, Sharon and her band, E. Shawn Qaissaunee (guitar), Sam Nobles (bass), & Adam Shumski (drums) will be performing a collection of songs celebrating some of the great songwriters of the twentieth century. Expect to hear music from artists such as Hoagy Carmichael, Edith Piaf, Antonio Carlos Jobim, The Beatles, Carole King, James Taylor & more!

Cape May: Line Dancing

Tuesdays through March 25

This class is open to all levels! The first 30 minutes will be dedicated to learning some basic steps and doing basic beginner dances – this is perfect if you are new to line dancing. The remainder of the class will be beginner and up. We will be dancing to a mix of music. Line dancing is not only fun, it’s also good for your mind and body and it’s a great stress buster because we usually laugh a lot.

This cooking demonstration is led by Mark Kalla, a retired chef, formerly the head chef at Green Cuisine Restaurant in Stone Harbor. He also had his own restaurant, The Barrier Island Inn. He has also been the executive chef at The Backyard Restaurant and later for Fish Tales, as well as Head Chef and Sommelier at Natali Vineyards.
