Hailed by “Opera News” as “a real dramatic soprano with a fiery timbre,” Barbara Quintiliani was the first American woman in twenty-five years to receive First Prize in the prestigious Francisco Viñas Singing Competition in Barcelona. Her awards are numerous and her repertoire ranges from portraying Donizetti’s “Lucrezia Borgia” on the operatic stage to Verdi’s “Requiem” in the concert halls.
Ms. Quintiliani is coming to East Lynne Theater Company to perform on Saturday, September 11 at 8:00PM, a concert she created for this occasion. Titled “A Hundred Thousand Days of Light,” it encompasses American music from the American Revolution to the present, including a piece composed specifically for her by Grammy nominee Lori Laitman. ELTC is renting a Steinway’s Boston piano for this concert.
The location is Cape May Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes Street. Tickets: $35; $30 senior; $20 student/military. Visit Eastlynnetheater.org, under “Mainstage Season” for more information; under “News” for the COVID-19 Safety Protocol, or call 609-884-5898.
Up next, from September 15 to October 16, its “Dorothy Parker: A Certain Woman,” starring Suzanne Dawson performing in a world premiere created by James Rana and directed by Gayle Stahlhuth. Dawson last appeared on ELTC’s stage in “Arsenic and Old Lace.”
