Cape May County Offers Accessible Beaches for those with Disabilities  

Wheelchair access and surf chairs allow Cape May County’s beautiful beaches to be enjoyed by all!


Avalon

Handicapped Ramps to Beach: 21st, 23rd, 24th-27th, 29th, 30th and 32nd streets at the beach, and 8th Street & Avalon Avenue.

Hard-packed Gravel Paths from Street to Beach: 9th-20th, 32nd-40th, 44th, 48th, 50th and 57th-79th streets at the beach.

Surf Chairs: 8th, 30th and 80th streets at the beach. Call (609) 967-7587 to reserve at no charge.


Cape May

Handicapped Ramps from Promenade to Beach: Broadway, 3rd & Cove, Grant & Gurney streets, and Trenton Avenue. Ramps to the Promenade are located at 17 streets along Beach Avenue.

Surf Chairs: 1st Avenue, Stockton Street, Jefferson Avenue, Philadelphia Avenue, Hughes Street and Madison Avenue at the beach, Stegers Beach, Poverty Beach and Beach Patrol Headquarters on Grant Street & the beach. First come, first served. Driver’s license required. Chairs will be delivered by Beach Patrol.


Cape May Point

Handicapped Ramps to Beach:  Coral Avenue & the beach.

Surf Chairs: Two chairs are available upon request at the Lifeguard Station. Call (609) 884-8468 ext. 15 to reserve at no charge.


North Wildwood

Handicapped Ramps to Beach: 15th Avenue & the beach.

Surf Chairs: Beach Patrol Headquarters at 15th Avenue & the beach, 5th Avenue & the beach, and Inlet Beach. No charge.


Ocean City

Handicapped Ramps from Boardwalk to Beach: Stenton Place, Pennlyn Place, Park Place, Brighton Place, Music Pier, 1st, 3rd-6th, 11th-18th, 20th, 26th, 35th-46th, 48th, and 50th-59th streets. Ramps to the Boardwalk are located at every street adjacent to the Boardwalk.

Direct Access to Beach: Morningside, St. James Place, and 23rd, 29th, 30th, 34th and 57th streets at the beach.

Surf Chairs: Lifeguard Stations at 1st, 12th, 34th and 59th streets at the beach for transport only. Other chairs are available for pickup at the Sports & Civic Center at 6th Street & Boardwalk. Call (609) 525-9304 to reserve at no charge.


Sea Isle City

Handicapped Ramps from Promenade to Beach: 41st and 85th streets. Ramps to the Promenade are located at 29th, 40th, 44th and 57th streets. Mobi-Mats® are available at most beach entrances.

Surf Chairs: Beach Patrol Headquarters at 44th Street & Promenade. First come, first served. Two forms of ID required. Call (609) 263-6000 to reserve at no charge. Drop off/pick up service available.

 


Stone Harbor

Handicapped Ramps to Beach: 83rd, 88th, 92nd, 95th, 101st, 103rd, 105th, 111th, 114th and 119th streets at the beach.

Surf Chairs: Beach Tag Office at 95th Street & the beach. Call (609) 368-6805 to reserve at no charge.


Strathmere

Handicapped Ramps to Beach: Williams Avenue & Neptune Road, and Putnam Avenue at the beach.

Direct Access to Beach: Along Whale Beach and at all street ends.

Wildwood

Direct Access to Beach: Cresse Avenue & the beach. Beach Patrol will provide transport from the Boardwalk to the beach for person with disabilities and one companion after 11 a.m., and will provide return transport to the Boardwalk before 4 p.m. Ramps to the Boardwalk are located at Schellenger and Rio Grande avenues.

Surf Chairs: Beach Patrol Headquarters at Lincoln Avenue & the beach. First come, first served. Two forms of ID required. Call (609) 522-8258 to reserve at no charge.


Wildwood Crest

Direct Access to Beach: Wildwood Crest’s 39 beaches are adjacent to the beach. Beach at Washington Avenue is not accessible.
