But Mark Watney is very much alive and alone and without any seeming way to contact his orbiting crew or Earth he must find a way to survive. After a series of increasingly tricky mental, physical and technical challenges he begins to believe there is a glimmer of hope that he may actually be rescued. Weir displays a virtuosic ability to write about highly technical situations without leaving the reader behind. Sharp, at times funny, and definitely thrilling with just the right amount of sci-fi geekery.
