Beach Reads: The Ghost Fields

The Ghost Fields by Elly Griffiths

This is the seventh book in the Ruth Galloway mystery series by Elly Griffiths; however, you don’t have to start with the first six books to enjoy this one. Each story stands alone, but you will enjoy them all from start to finish, especially as Griffiths builds a compelling storyline around her recurring characters that I enjoy catching up on in each new book. In Ghost Fields forensic archaeologist Ruth Galloway is called to the scene of a newly excavated WWII plane found in a field with the apparent skeleton of the pilot in the cockpit. DNA tests show that the dead man is a local who was reported dead in an entirely different WWII plane crash. Ruth Galloway and DCI Harry Nelson must again work together to solve an increasingly difficult puzzle that appears to involve every member of the dead man’s family as a suspect.
