Bartender of the Week: Anglesea Pub

Anglesea Pub in North Wildwood is not only the Jersey Shore’s authentic “Irish pub in your own backyard”, but also home to bartender personality “Irish Bernie”. Bernie moved from Lisburn, Ireland, sixteen years ago and has been gracing Ye Olde Anglesea with his professional Guiness-pouring skills in recent years. With his quick wit and authentic accent, Bernie keeps Anglesea customers entertained and ever-satisfied. “It’s always nice to come in and see him,” states Anglesea regular Ron Bove. “Bernie always draws a nice crowd,” he continues. Plus, Bernie is ultra attentive to patrons’ drinking needs. Even when we sat down with Bernie to learn more about our bartender of the week, he made sure that the bar patrons first had a full drink. Bernie expressed how much he loves working in a pub that reminds him of his birthplace. Anglesea Pub owner, Sean McMullen, has “turned the Anglesea Pub back to what it used to be,” asserts Bernie. Back to its original glory and “from scratch” recipes to be precise. Here, the food is “excellent” and the components of each dish are made in-house. Bernie is so loved that the Pub even named a dinner special in his honor. The “Bernie Special” features half a barbecue chicken and steak fries.

As far as Anglesea signature drinks, Bernie recommends the Celtic Lemonade, an always popular choice. It’s made with Absolut, Triple Sec, Celtic Honey Liqueur, and fresh lemonade. The Tennessee Chiller is also worth a try for Jack Daniels fans and features Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey and fresh lemonade. Bernie’s personal drink of choice remains (and will forver remain) a pint of Guinness. Meet this lively Irishman for yourself Tuesday, Saturday, or Sunday weekly at the Anglesea Pub. Happy Hour here is extra long and extra “happy”, featuring $1 domestic drafts from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Slainte!
