The Humane Society of Ocean City (HSOC) will hold its annual “Barks on the Boards” event on Sunday, May 31, 2015 starting 10:00 a.m. at the Civic Center field, located at 6th and Boardwalk.
Registration and dog games run from 10:00 a.m. until noon with the walk starting at 12:00 p.m. Contests feature best dressed, largest dog, smallest dog, most talented, best tail wager, best puppy and highest fundraiser. Contest prizes will be awarded at 1:00 p.m.
Pre-registration is $25.00 per person until May 25th (dogs walk for free and must be leashed at all times), and registration at the event is $30.00 per person.
“This is the 13th year we’ve held ‘Barks on the Boards’ and it is a great fundraiser for us as well as a lot of fun for participants,” said Bill Hollingsworth, HSOC Executive Director, Chief Animal Cruelty Investigator, and Animal Control Officer. “Since any government funding we receive is less than 10 percent of our budget, fundraisers like this are critical for us to continue the great work we do for Ocean City.”
HSOC is a private, non-profit “no-kill” adoption center that includes the Veterinary Center, offering affordable veterinary services and spay/neuter clinics to residents of Ocean City and surrounding communities. HSOC has been serving the community for over 50 years with pet adoption, veterinary care, and animal control services.
