STONE HARBOR — The Wetlands Institute finished 2012 in a whirlwind of activity. 2012 was a year of exciting changes but significant challenges as well. Hurricane Sandy upset our smooth sailing, as it did for many of our friends and supporters in and around Cape May County. It also provided us with an opportunity to reevaluate our conservation and education needs and plan to rebuild to be even better than before.
Our special events programs also include some major changes going forward. One of the most significant is to the Wings ‘N Water Festival. The Wings and Water Benefit Auction, our signature event, will be held on Aug. 3 this year. The other traditional Wings ‘N Water Festival events will become part of the new Fall Migration Festival which will be held on the weekend of Sept. 21 and 22.
This year’s auction will feature a wide array of Silent Auction and Live Auction items, great cocktails and delicious food catered by the Washington Inn. There will be new, exciting and unique auction items including trips, dining experiences, tickets to sporting events and more.
In moving the date to the height of the tourism season, the auction committee expects a boost in attendance and the ability to reach an entirely new demographic, a trend we started last year. We expect more than 300 people at this year’s event. Donations will bring attention to your business, showcase your generosity, and support our mission. Please contact Christine Mattera at cmattera@wetlandsinstitute.org to donate or for more information.
