Lines on the Pines, a free indoor event, celebrating the New Jersey Pine Barrens returns once again to the Stockton University Campus Center, located at 101 Vera King Farris Drive in Galloway. The annual event will be held on Sunday, March 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This popular book signing, history, arts, humanities, crafts, music, and everything New Jersey Pine Barrens event is free and open to the public.
Thinking it would be a one-time event, and after months of planning, Linda Stanton, founder and creator, presented the first event in 2006.
This year, the theme – with an emphasis on kids’ activities – is “folklore.” Come elect to sign up to learn eight factual and fictional pine barrens stories. Also, they can earn a patch by completing activities in the PB&J booklet. Become artists for the day with arts and crafts in the kids’ hall. Laurie of “Funny Farm Rescue” will be there along with her “everyone gets along” animals to pet and observe.
The event is centered around Pine Barrens authors and they never disappoint. New to the event are Vea Lewis, author of “Pine and Dandy,” Robert Cobb author of “Privateers and Pine Robbers,” Mary Ann Trail, author of “History of Egg Harbor Township,” and Ellen Alford, author of “Underground Railroad in South Jersey.”
Expect to visit several historical societies from South Jersey towns such as Galloway Twp, Mullica Twp, Tuckerton, Great Egg Harbor, Vineland, and Barnegat.
Continuous music in separate areas of the event will be presented by the Acoustic Musicians Guild and the Groggy Pine Boys. At the main entrance will be the Daniel Keiser Band.
Interested in the outdoors? Easy: it’s well-represented by PPA, Pinelands Adventures, So Jersey Wildlife Tours, Wild Ones Seedling Chapter, Nature Here and Now with Chris, Stockton Maple Project, and more.
Tons of crafters are bringing handmade jewelry, wood carvings, soaps, stained glass, pottery, hand-made bread, textiles, paintings, graphite work, and more.
The event is on “Spring Forward!” – remember to set your clocks!
