CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County 4-H Program Advisory Council is proud to announce a new event this fall, the 4-H Gobble Wobble and Turkey Trot on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016. The event will take place at the Cape May County 4-H Fairgrounds, 355 Court House–South Dennis Rd., Cape May Court House. Rain date will be Sunday, Nov. 20.
The first part of the event will be the Run/Walk Gobble Wobble 5K or 1 Mile which is open to the public and will award prizes to all division winners. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Cost for the Run/Walk is $10 or $5 for any 4-H member, leader or volunteer.
Following the Run/Walk there will be a Horseback Turkey Trot with registration at 10 a.m., relay races at 11 a.m. followed by the Trot. Teams of two to three will be sent out in five-minute intervals. The Horseback Turkey Trot is also open to the public, however, Coggins and shots record are required for non 4-H registered horses. Also, all riders are required to wear helmets and sign a helmet inspection waiver form. The cost of the trot is $30 or $20 for any 4-H member, leader or volunteer.
Jessica Pikolycky, member of the 4-H Program Advisory Council, said, “This event is a fundraiser to support the mission mini grants that any Cape May County 4-H Club can apply to receive. The grants, awarded by the Program Advisory Council, are up to $500 and clubs have used the funds for educational trips to Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center Hospital, creating and installing a native plants garden for Monarch Butterflies, and even hosting a recognized rabbit breeders association show.”
