On Friday, October 7, East Lynne Theater Company offers an opportunity to meet the “Biography” cast with a question-and-answer session after the performance.

The plot centers on Marion Froude, who is writing her autobiography for magazine editor Richard Kurt. A past lover, Leander Nolan, now running for Senate, wants the story killed. Playwright S. N. Behrman somewhat based Marion on Neysa McMein, an artist, who like Marion, lived on West 57th Street in Manhattan and enjoyed famous friends dropping in while she worked. Behrman’s genius was to offer social analysis couched in breezy comedies.

Portraying Marion, Nolan and Kurt are Erika Amato, Tom Byrn and Mike Newman. Erika performed in “The Secret Garden” at The Arden, Tom portrayed the 16th President in ELTC’s “Mr. Lincoln” and Mike was in “Peter and the Starcatcher” at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse.

Others in the cast include R. Scott Williams, Veronique Hurley, Mark Edward Lang, John Cameron Weber and Gayle Stahlhuth, who is also the director.

“This play is filled with laugh-out-loud moments, and you’ll be completely enamored with Marion, a heroine from another era but truly made for our times,” wrote Tom Sims for “Exit Zero.”

“Biography” runs Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. through October 15, with no show on October 5, and a show on Sunday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. On October 13, $5 from every ticket sold will go to Gilda’s Club.

The show is located at the First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, 500 Hughes St. For reservations, call (609) 884-5898 or visit www.eastlynnetheater.org.
