Since its recent grand opening, 5 West Pub of North Cape May has quickly become the preferred local watering hole. Local and visiting crowds just can’t get enough of the pub’s relaxed atmosphere and deals on their daily wood fired specialty pizza. We decided to take a seat at 5 West’s spacious bar where bartender Susan revealed what all the hype is about.
The Pub’s signature drink, “The 5 West”, has bar patrons totally hooked. Mixed with Bacardi Dragon Berry (our favorite summer rum), fresh squeezed lemonade, a splash of cranberry, and a splash of 7 Up, the 5 West is then garnished with a fresh Jersey strawberry. Susan described its taste as similar to a “strawberry gummy” yet not too sweet to be served solely as a dessert cocktail. Rather, its tart undertones make it more of an “anytime” summer cocktail. And in the midst of the heat wave Cape May County has been experiencing, the 5 West was just what the doctor ordered for a quick cool down. Sample this 5 West signature and half-priced appetizers at Happy Hour daily from 4-6 PM. Beer lovers might prefer to enjoy a few of 5 West’s several seasonal ales on tap including Curious Traveler, Sierra Nevada Summer Ale, Cape May Brewing Company’s Devil’s Reach, Blue Moon, Sam Adams Summer Ale, and Victory’s Summer Love.
