Sports Card, Toy, Comic & Collectibles Expo
Friday-Sunday, August 22nd to 24th
Where: Wildwoods Convention Center – 4501 Boardwalk, Wildwood

Browse over 125 tables of the hottest collectibles on the planet! The expo features sports cards, non-sports cards, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic, Pokemon, sets, supplies, unopened packs and boxes, toys, Legos, games, comic books, coins, beanie babies, videos, posters, jerseys & much more. If you’re looking for it, it’s probably here! Admission is free.

Run Now for Autism Speaks, Wildwood 5K
Saturday, August 23rd from 7 a.m. to noon
Where: Wildwoods Boardwalk, beginning at Rio Grande Avenue

The 5K run will take place along the Wildwoods Boardwalk beginning at Rio Grande Avenue. Registration and check-in is at 7:00 a.m. on the beach at Rio Grande Avenue, with race start time at 8:00 a.m. $25 early online registration (until August 22nd) or $30 day of registration. All runners will receive a 2014 Run Now for Autism Speaks t-shirt and prizes will be awarded to the top three men, women and children. All proceeds benefit Autism Speaks. Seafarers’ Weekend
Saturday-Sunday, August 23rd & 24th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Historic Cold Spring Village – 720 Rte 9, Cold Spring

Celebrate the maritime culture and history of the Jersey Cape! Seafarers’ Weekend will feature pirates, maritime music, family fun, and a variety of displays and demonstrations of all things nautical. The Village buildings will also be open, featuring historical interpreters in period clothing who demonstrate the trades, crafts and lifestyles of Early America. Visitors should be on the lookout for gold coins hidden throughout the Village that can be redeemed for cool prizes!

Valhalla’s Pirates will join the event, bringing thrilling fight scenes both days at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Captain Black and his crew will also meet with guests throughout the day to take pictures and tell tales of the sea.

Colossal Coastal Roller Derby Expo
Saturday, August 23rd from 4 to 10 p.m.
Where: Wildwoods Convention Center – 4501 Boardwalk, Wildwood

The Colossal Coastal Roller Derby Expo takes place in the Wildwoods Convention Center Aug. 23 with hundreds of roller derby enthusiasts, skaters and vendors, featuring hard-hitting games and various other skate-inspired festivities. Male and female roller derby skaters throughout the country are expected to attend and will be playing using the Modern Athletic Derby Endeavor Rule Set. The tournament begins at 4 p.m., with the main event at 8 p.m.

The Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale in Concert
Saturday, August 23rd from 8 to 10 p.m.
Where: Convention Hall – 714 Beach Ave, Cape May

Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale, under the musical direction of Jeffrey R. Smith, presents a full- length concert featuring classical music, pop and Americana on Saturday evening, August 24 at 8 p.m. in Cape May Convention Hall. The full-length concert features eighty choir members complemented by a men’s chorale and Mr. Smith on the piano.

Concert Under the Stars featuring Fralinger String Band
Saturday, August 23rd from 8 to 10 p.m.
Where: Lou Booth Amphitheater – Second and Ocean Aves, North Wildwood

Throughout the years, the band has traveled all across the United States and the world, as a goodwill ambassador for Philadelphia and for the Mummers. And for years, Fralinger String Band has been bringing their energy, spirit, and fun to North Wildwood. Don’t miss them this summer—and don’t forget your silver slippers! Everybody will be strutting in the street!

Wildwoods Restaurant Week

King & Queen of Plop
Tuesday, August 26th from 10:30 a.m. to noon
Where: 9th Street Beach, Ocean City

Ocean City has an unusual way of welcoming the fall season. Four years ago, we initiated the Mr. Fall Gal and Mr. Fall Guy contest also known as the King and Queen of Plop. The event will be held at 11 a.m. on the 9th Street Beach opposite the Music Pier. Contestants are asked to greet the fall season, always a lovely time of year, by falling dramatically (and in slow motion) to the sand. Those performing the most dramatic renditions will be crowned the King and Queen of Plop. Registrations begins 10:30 a.m. at the 9th St. Beach. Entry is free and prizes will be awarded.

Movies on the Beach: ‘Babe The Gallant Pig’
