‘Wildwood Days’ Comes to the PAC on Aug. 18

Singer, Impressionist and Comedian Johnny Petillo Joins the Jersey Shore Pops

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Linda Gentille & The Jersey Shore Pops continue their popular Summer Concert Series with “Wildwood Days” on Friday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center. This “Tribute to the ‘50s” starring Johnny Petillo will feature music made famous by Bobby Rydell, The Platters, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dion & The Belmonts, Liberace, Elvis and more.

Joining Linda and Johnny will be audience favorite Jacklyn Buckingham, a graduate of Montclair State University with a B.A. in Theater and a minor in Musical Theater. Jacklyn has performed in numerous musicals including “Les Miserables,” “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” “The World Goes Round” and “Cabaret.”

Since his days singing on the street corners of Asbury Park, N.J., Johnny Petillo’s powerful and soulful voice has been entertaining audiences of all sizes.

Early on, Johnny had a hit record “Kiss Me Quick,” which topped the European charts. Johnny became a member of Danny and the Juniors, well known for hits such as “At the Hop” and “Rock N Roll is Here to Stay.” They toured widely throughout Europe and across the U.S.

Johnny moved on to sing lead with The Duprees, famous for such hits as “Have You Heard” and “You Belong to Me.” Spot-on impressions and stand-up comedy are well within Johnny’s range and have delighted crowds at sites big and small, including comedy clubs, cruise ships and major venues like Madison Square Garden. Celebrating his talent and musical contributions, Johnny was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003.

The Jersey Shore Pops is a big band orchestra with a string section, modeled after the orchestras of the Frank Sinatra era which featured strings along with a big band sound. The Pops was founded by entertainer and conductor Linda Gentille in 2009. The orchestra features 25 of the finest area musicians either born or based in New Jersey, becoming the most popular orchestra at the Jersey Shore and an attraction for tourists from all over the East Coast for the past eight years. Many Philly Pops fans attend the Jersey Shore Pops Summer Concert Series when the Philly Pops is on vacation.

Individual tickets range from $25-$40 with a special group rate for 10 or more of only $22. Individual tickets can also be purchased at the Middle Township PAC (located at the high school) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is free and convenient parking at the PAC and the theatre is handicapped accessible.
