The Borough of Wildwood Crest will hold an Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 29, at 10 a.m. at Bayview Memorial Park located at Preston Avenue and Bayview Drive.
The public is welcome to attend.
Founded in 1872, Arbor Day is a day of observance on which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees.
In addition to recognizing Arbor Day, the borough will unveil plans for various upgrades to the park. Those upgrades include improved landscaping; modifications and improvements to existing curb lines; enhanced streetscape planting; installation of pedestrian crosswalks; the creation of a memorial plaza that includes a water feature, trellis and shaded seating; and other improvements. These plans are featured on the Special Projects page of the borough’s website at wildwoodcrest.org.
The borough will soon be accepting bid proposals to perform this work at the park.
As part of the ceremony, the borough will distribute 60 tree seedlings to those in attendance. The tree seedlings were donated to the borough by the Lomax Consulting Group.
Various borough officials and children from Crest Memorial Elementary School are expected to attend the Arbor Day ceremony.
