The Wildwoods Host Seventh Annual ‘The Race of Gentlemen’ Vintage Car & Motorcycle Beach Drag Races June 8-10

THE WILDWOODS – The 7th Annual Race of Gentlemen Vintage Car and Motorcycle Beach Drag Races, one of the premier events of the summer, returns to the Wildwoods Friday, June 8 through Sunday, June 10, hosted by the Oilers Car Club/Motorcycle Club.

Spectators and racers alike will experience a simpler time of when guys were gentlemen and cars were king! 1934 and older, and vintage automobiles and 1947 and older motorcycles – including Indian, Harley Davidson, Excelcior, Ford, Dodge Brothers and more – will compete in an exhibition-style beach race at the water’s edge between Schellenger and Spicer avenues in Wildwood.

On Friday, June 8, the ‘Night of the Troglodytes,’ a pre-race party and bike show, takes place starting at 8 p.m. at the Binns Motel, Spicer and Atlantic avenues in Wildwood. On display will be ‘60s and ‘70s choppers and show bikes with live music hosted by Harley Carrera.

Race day begins on Saturday, June 9 and will feature vintage auto and motorcycle drag races from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m. for spectators. There will be live music, a kids’ fun area, and food and beer vendors.

Saturday night will feature a bonfire party on the beach with live Rock ‘n Roll music under a big tent from 8 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $10 per person or free with the purchase of a full weekend pass.

The fun continues Sunday, June 10 with a second day of races from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony, beach party and more Rock ‘n Roll music. Beach access begins at 10 a.m. for spectators. No coolers will be permitted on the beach, but food and beverages will be for sale for your convenience. Please note that race times may vary depending on ocean tides.

Full weekend passes are available for purchase online and at the door, and are $55 for adults 16 and older and $15 for children 7-15 years old; children 6 and under are free. Single day tickets will only be available for purchase at the door. Day passes for adults 16 and older are $35 on Saturday and $20 on Sunday; children 7-15 years old are $10 each day, and children 6 and under are free.
