On the Scene this Week:  Aug. 17 to Aug. 23

The nightlife at the Jersey Shore heats up when the sun goes down as the hottest local bands, DJs and musicians take the stage at your favorite shore-town bars, restaurants and clubs. Whether you’re tapping your toes to live music or joining in on games like Quizzo and Name That Tune, the fun will last all night long. Check out who’s on the scene this week in Cape May County!

Friday, Aug. 17

On Friday, take a break from the Wildwoods Boardwalk and visit Splash Zone’s Flow House for live music and cold cocktails. Christian Glomb performs from 6 to 9:30 p.m., bringing a unique mixture of originals and covers to Wildwood. You won’t want to miss this talented singer/songwriter strumming away on his guitar!

At 7 p.m., The Aquanets get things moving by singing doo-wop and oldies tunes at Backfin Bar & Grill in Wildwood. Johnny Baldino, James Wallace, Wayne Vogel, Joe Talvacchio Trish Flynn are guaranteed to sing you your favorite songs from a time of the past. You’ll be dancing in your seat and on your feet!

Saturday, Aug. 18

You won’t want to miss the smooth, rich sounds of Chameleon at Tuckahoe Inn in Beesley’s Point on Saturday at 6 p.m.! Like the adaptable chameleon, this band can switch between R&B, rock, Top 40, funk, jazz and blues effortlessly. With an exceptional vocalist and a powerful group of musicians, Chameleon has become the “can’t miss act” on the local club scene!

Playing at Harry’s Ocean Bar & Grille in Cape May Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m., The Yokels will take you where you want to go on a breezy, summer evening. This band plays the greatest classic rock, blues, country and Americana songs from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. The band is made of stellar musicians from the Jersey Cape and when they get together, it’s always a great show!

Sunday, Aug. 19

Boathouse Restaurant & Marina Deck in Wildwood welcomes the Big Daddy Duo on Sunday from 7 to 10 p.m. Mike and Larry perform great party rock shows all over the Delaware Valley with the philosophy, “If it’s fun, we’ll play it!” This has kept the duo on top of the nightclub scene for years, bringing fun and rockin’ music from all eras to venues of all kind.

Monday, Aug. 20

MudHen Brewing Co. in Wildwood hosts Cultureal for Reggae Mon-Days on the patio from 6 to 10 p.m.! When Cultureal is on the stage, people of all ages and cultures can’t help but get up and move. Through reggae music that is groove/dance based, plus conscious lyrics and soulful singing, Cultureal puts on a musical celebration of life. After seven years of being together, Cultureal has truly formed their own unique sound that doesn’t fail to leave a lasting impression on the audience.

Tuesday, Aug. 21

Jersey Shore musician Bill Caterini performs in our local shore towns and beyond, gracing audiences with his acoustic sounds and gifted voice. On Tuesday, you’ll find him among Stubborn Brothers Beach Bar & Grille’s tropical-like atmosphere right in Wildwood from 1 to 5 p.m. Bill’s specialties include acoustic, rock, Americana, pop, oldies and more. His diverse mix keeps him in high demand, so don’t be surprised if you see him at two different places in one day! 

Wednesday, Aug. 22

Wednesday is Quizzo night at Anglesea Pub in North Wildwood! Starting at 9 p.m., come test your trivia knowledge with Ronn E. Dee as host. Additionally, you can enjoy Wednesday night’s specials of a traditional meatloaf dinner for $10.99, and half price apps at the bar 8 p.m. to close. You deserve some mid-week fun!

Thursday, Aug. 23

Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. is the popular Animal House Band at On The Rocks at the Cape May Ferry Terminal. This band consists of veteran musicians who have played up and down the East Coast, gracing audiences with their dance party tunes. No era or genre is left untouched by this experienced group of players. The band covers various party dance songs from the ‘50s through today’s music, specializing in classic party rock, reggae, calypso, dance, funk, hip hop and alternative music.
