There’s a new radio station coming to town. WCFA, at 101.5 FM and wcfa-lp.org on the internet, has been broadcasting since 2007 with a format called “Jazz and more.” That changes on the evening of Friday, Feb. 17 when the station’s new format will be revealed at the Center for Community Arts’ annual Souper Bowl event.
According to Station Management Group Chairman Ray Crew, some things won’t be changing. “We’ll still be offering a wide variety of music, talk and community oriented programming,” he said, “and our new format will help us reach an even wider audience.”
Center for Community Arts Executive Director David Mackenzie added, “The new format will help WCFA support our mission more effectively by providing a more diverse mix of music, art and information.”
Neither Mackenzie nor Crew would comment on exactly what this new format will be. “Tune in or log on to our website Friday at 8 p.m. to find out,” Crew said.
