Avalon Library Plays Matchmaker, Hosts ‘Blind Date With a Book’ for February

AVALON – The Avalon Free Public Library is encouraging patrons to take a chance on falling in love, and go on a blind date… with a book! Enticing personal ads will get readers out of their reading comfort zone and into a new genre of romance, suspense, history, sci-fi and more. “Blind Date With a Book” will run through Feb. 28.

Select one of the many books presented, based on its personal ad. “Check It Out” at the circulation desk, take it home, cozy up and enjoy. When you turn the last page, and before you return it, be sure to “Rate Your Date” with the card enclosed. All participants will be included in a prize drawing on March 1, 2017.

Sample Personal Ads:

“Popular nonfiction book seeking a history buff, or perhaps just someone looking for a new perspective on the American Revolution?”

“I know, I know, I look like a beach book, but that doesn’t mean you can’t read me in February! In fact, maybe that’s the best time – when you’re longing to put your toes in the sand and feel the sun on your face, I will help you forget about the grey winter skies outside.”

The opportunities are endless and a great way to encourage reading in the family and with friends during this signature month of romance. So be daring, take a chance and get out there! Just don’t forget your book!
