On Monday, July 3rd at 7 p.m., Linda Gentille & The Jersey Shore Pops returns to the Cape May Convention Center with an American Patriotic Concert Tribute.

This special concert will feature renowned Music Director and pianist Linda Gentille, with special performances by vocalist Jacklyn Buckingham and virtuoso violinist Susan Elsayed. A special appearance will also be made by one of Linda’s longtime friends and musical collaborators, Jim Yester of the 60’s musical group “The Association.” Linda and Jim traveled together performing for several years before he rejoined the group several years ago.

As the orchestra’s founder, Music Director, and principal soloist, Linda Gentille has led the Jersey Shore Pops, a twenty-member ensemble of the finest New Jersey musicians, since 2009. In addition to conducting the Pops orchestra, Linda has performed around the world, displaying her unique piano artistry and showmanship to audiences from the US to China, where she set several attendance records.

On July 3rd, Linda and the Pops will honor the contributions of three of America’s greatest musical figures: Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, and Glenn Miller.

George Gershwin blended classical, jazz, and popular music styles and techniques to fashion unforgettable compositions like “Rhapsody in Blue,” “Embraceable You,” “Strike Up the Band,” and “Love Walked In.”

A talented, influential, and prolific composer and lyricist, Irving Berlin wrote more than 800 songs, from ragtime and jazz melodies to the golden age of musicals.

Although too old to serve as a soldier in World War II, Glenn Miller organized, conducted, and played in an Army Air Force band, entertaining the allied troops in Britain. His original arrangements of “In the Mood,” and other standards helped lift the spirits of soldiers and the American public.

Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts / Department of State, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners through the Cape May County Division of Culture & Heritage. Monday, July 3, 2023
