Ever-Expanding Westy’s Irish Pub

After years and years of experience and hundreds and hundreds of happy patrons, Westy’s Irish Pub & Restaurant of North Wildwood has achieved the status of great dining and entertainment in the perfect pub atmosphere. Westy’s is a descendant of West Tavern of Philadelphia, opened by owner Art West’s father in 1943. Art brought his lifelong pub saavy to East Walnut Ave. in North Wildwood in 1996. Westy’s Pub has since expanded numerous times and continues to expand in this summer 2012 season.

Start your day with a view at Westy’s from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and grab breakfast on the patio. Take a break from the beach and check out Westy’s all-American lunch menu options including huge tavern sandwiches such as the Oyster Po Boy or the Westy, char-grilled chicken breast topped, peppers, and Colby Jack served on a ciabatta. Get the best of the pub and Jersey shore worlds with the Beer Battered Fish Sandwich, fried golden brown and served on a Kaiser with tartar sauce. Westy’s famous burgers are also a great choice. The Boardwalk burger, topped with onion rings, bacon, and cheese sauce, is another shore-inspired classic that you will not regret.

When you need a break from the sun, Westy’s downstairs indoor dining room offers a fun pub ambiance. The downstairs patio or upstairs deck are prime locations to enjoy the sea breeze. Need an afternoon cocktail? Be sure to sample Westy’s famous Celtic Lemonade and listen for the sounds of the crashing waves and calling gulls just ahead at Hereford Inlet.

For dinner, stake out a great seat on the ocean front deck and enjoy fresh local seafood from Westy’s raw bar. Crab fingers, U-Peel shrimp, Topneck clams, and Cape May salt oysters are served with cocktail sauce, lemon, and horseradish, and ask a server about the Oyster of the Day. The indoor Irish pub downstairs serves up hardy entrees including Fish and Chips, Westy’s Shepherd’s Pie, Chicken or Veal Francaise, mouthwatering Prime Rib, Westy’s famous Dublin Salmon, or their surf and turf. For a lighter dish, the Apple Walnut Chicken salad and Red Pear salad include refreshing and fruity summer flavors.

After dinner, the night heats up on Westy’s brand new 7,000 square foot ocean front deck, debuting this summer season. The deck features a large stage fit for a band of nearly any size and that will be featuring some of the top bands of the east coast. Local favorites such as The Nerds, The Amish Outlaws, The Heart Beats, and Shorty Long and the Jersey Horns, Bigg Romeo, and F.M. are just a few of the twenty-plus entertainers set to play on Westy’s all new oceanfront deck this summer season. Enjoy the music from the 75 foot bar in the center of the deck or front-row from the space in front of the stage. Performers play from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the deck allowing diners a great opportunity for dinner and a show. The new deck will feature its own kitchen and an extended menu.

When the show ends at 10 p.m., head downstairs to the pub where bands continue to jam until 2 a.m. Stellar Mojo, Jumper, D.J. Matt Kelly, The Zone, The Approach, and Sindi Raymond Band are a few of the top names set to play in Westy’s original pub this summer. Alternatively, sample house DJ Jerry Smith’s mix of oldies and modern hits in the upstairs ocean view room. Smiling Jerry stays in the mix until 2 a.m. In the heart of North Wildwood’s entertainment district, Westy’s Irish Pub does not disappoint. With one of the friendliest staffs in the Wildwoods and its ever-changing entertainment scene, Westy’s is the place to be any summer night. From Wednesday night “Name that Tune” to Thursday’s Margarita night to Friday happy hour with Wesley Ochs, Westy’s Irish Pub offers a great cocktail, a delicious dish, and a fun night for all types of Jersey Shore patrons.
