Thousands of volunteers will collect trash from beaches, bays and waterways on Saturday morning, April 1, to help Clean Ocean Action clean for our community and wildlife. The nonprofit group’s annual spring beach sweep will take place in nearly every town in Cape May County, including: Avalon, Cape May, North Wildwood, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, Ocean City, Sea Isle City, Stone Harbor, Strathmere, and Villas. Enjoy of variety of teas and other refreshments while viewing “Prince Philip: The Man Behind The Throne,” the incredible story of Prince Phillip’s journey from refugee to consort of Queen Elizabeth II. Registration is required by calling 609-967-7155, stopping by the circulation desk, or sending an email to programs@avalonfreelibrary.org. Avalon property owners may register beginning March 13. All others may register beginning March 27. Space is limited.
Cape May County Healthy Community Day

Wildwoods Convention Center
Cape May County Department of Health will be hosting Cape May County Healthy Community Day 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Wildwoods Convention Center. A free two-mile breast cancer awareness walk will be held at 9 a.m. to start off the day. Registration for the walk will begin at 8:15 a.m. and participants will receive a free t-shirt as supplies last. The event will be featuring free health screenings, free yoga, a guest speaker, community resources and activities for the whole family.
Cape May’s Blessing of the Waters

Fisherman’s Memorial, Missouri Avenue and the Harbor, Cape May
The annual ceremony offers prayers for a safe and successful fishing season. Conducted by local clergy, usually with the accompaniment of the Coast Guard Recruit band or sometimes simply a bugler or bagpiper, the “Blessing of the Waters” is a time for solemn reflection and remembrance.

1st and Surf Ave Beach in Wildwood
The Annual Plunge takes place at 11 a.m. at 1st & Surf Aves at the inlet beach in North Wildwood. Post party will take place at Keenan’s Irish Pub and sponsoring establishments. Proceeds benefit the families of police officers lost in the line of duty. Registration fee is $40 day of event. Children under 15 years old are $15. The annual event sponsored by the Cape May County Board of Commissioners includes educational displays, live entertainment, a scavenger hunt, crafts, and live animal encounters. The event will kick off with an Easter Egg Hunt in the park at 10:00 a.m.

Rain or shine! The Easter bunny will make a special appearance at this egg hunt. Please bring your own basket. There will be four categories of egg hunters: 3 years old and younger, 4 to 6 years old, 7 to 10 years old, and those with disabilities. Serene’s Food Truck will be present.

Frog Full Moon Hike

Belleplain State Forest Main Office
Join the staff at Belleplain State Forest for a full moon hike! The walk usually takes one to one and a half hours and lasts for 2.5 miles – so dress for the cold weather. This event is dog friendly, but pets must be leashed on a leash no more than 6 feet in length at all times.
