Events this Week in Cape May County: July 12 – 19

Find something to do in Cape May County this week, from Wildwood to Woodbine. Christmas in July is coming up fast – be on the lookout for our events guide for the holiday. Beachside Science at Surfside: Turtle Talk 

Wednesday, July 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. 

Surfside Park, 2901 Avalon Ave 

During this presentation, Erin Rawls, outreach co-coordinator for The Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor will introduce participants to several different species of turtle that can be found locally, including the Northern Diamondback Terrapin, the only reptile found in a salt marsh and the turtle you’re most likely to see crossing the road in Avalon! 

Wednesday Summer Movies: The Super Mario Bros. Movie (PG)

Movies on the Beach: Moana 

Thursday, July 13 from 8 to 10 p.m. 

Convention Hall at Gurney Street Beach 

Moana will begin at dusk next to Cape May Convention Hall at Gurney Street Beach. In the event of inclement weather, the cancellation will be announced on Cape May City’s Facebook page.  All are welcome and encouraged to bring your favorite beach chairs and blankets. 

BBQ and Blues Festival 

Friday to Sunday, July 14 – 16 

2nd and New Jersey, North Wildwood 

Experience the best of BBQ food and blues music at this exciting three-day festival, held at 2nd and Olde New Jersey Avenues and at the surrounding pubs in North Wildwood. Friday from 4 to 10:30 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  

Carnival By the Sea 

Friday, July 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. 

Excursion Park, 2 41st Street, Sea Isle City 

Come one come all! Come have a ball! Come check out the Carnival By The Sea. Enjoy a live Magic Act, and other live entertainment Try your hand at some Carnival games for prizes. Get pictures with Characters. Facepainting and Balloon Art.  

New Jersey Jeep Beach Invasion 

Friday through Sunday, July 14 to 16  

The beach at Rio Grande Avenue, Wildwood 

The New Jersey Invasion offers three days of Jeep activities, access to the industry’s top vendors, and an opportunity to play on our exclusive beach obstacle course powered by Rausch Creek Off-road Park. Oh, and don’t forget our huge raffle! Friday and Saturday the event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday it runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

The Nebulae of Summer at the Cape May Point Science Center 

Saturday, July 15 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Join Cape May Astro at the Cape May Point Science Center for the Dark Sky event starting at 8:45 pm. The Eagle Nebula will be front and center during this special event, but what is a nebula? How do they begin? What makes them so fascinating?  Come find out! 

Festival of Lights Viewing Party & Food Truck Festival

Join us at the Municipal Marina Lot as we wait and watch the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor’s annual Festival of Lights Boat Parade. 

Automobiles, Trains, & Planes Weekend at Historic Cold Spring Village 

Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cruise into Historic Cold Spring Village for the Annual Automobiles, Trains and Planes Weekend! See beautifully restored and preserved vehicles parked along the Village’s tree-lined, shell-paved lanes. $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for children. 

7 Mile Players Open Mic Night 

Sunday, July 16 from 9 to 10:30 p.m. 

Harbor Square Theater 

Local kids from Avalon and Stone Harbor’s “7 Mile Players” will put on a great show full of individual performances, song, and dance. Tickets are $10 per attendee.
