This week’s hunt for drink of the week began with a taste-off. We hit the Lighthouse Pointe Deck bar where entertainment legends such as Johnny O, Joe Conklin, and Sir Rod Stewart have come before. Judy, one of last year’s master mixologists and a twenty year Pointe veteran, guaranteed that we would love the “Cherry Cheesecake”. But fellow deck bartender Lindsey Anderson decided to make things interesting with a friendly competition. Judy would mix up a Cherry Cheesecake while Lindsey made a famed “Pointe Breeze”. The two friendly mixologists presented their drink of the week contenders and awaited the final decision. The Cherry Cheesecake – made with vanilla vodka, triple sec, pineapple juice, and grenadine – was a sweet surprise and a true representation of its namesake. The Pointe Breeze, however, was crisp and refreshingly fruity. Its pineapple coconut rum base was perfectly disguised by splashes or pineapple and cranberry juices.
Our ultimate winner? The Pointe Breeze beat out the Cherry Cheesecake in a close race. The Pointe Breeze is more of an anytime summer cocktail, while the Cherry Cheesecake is an ideal dessert cocktail. Sample these or any of the deck’s
awesome cocktails daily while enjoying Lighthouse Pointe’s signature “Deckertainment” performers. Stop by for Wednesday’s all-you-can-eat snow crab special or Tuesday’s Happy Hour Quizzo and say hello to Judy and Lindsey.
