Domestic Violence Awareness Month Events

Oct. 15, 1 to 4 p.m. at Willow Creek Winery, 168 Stevens St., West Cape May:
CARA’S Fall Fundraiser – “From Victim to Survivor” – Please join The Coalition Against Rape and Abuse for an afternoon of wine tasting, appetizers, raffles and more. Proceeds from the event go to help service victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Tickets are $40 per person and can be obtained through the administration office by calling (609) 522-6489 or by mailing a check to Coalition Against Rape and Abuse, P.O. Box 774, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210 (time permitting). When mailing a check, please provide the name and address to where we should mail the tickets.

Oct. 21, 1 to 4 p.m. at Villas Volunteer Fire Company, 1619 Bayshore Rd., Villas:
Break the Silence – Domestic Violence Empowerment and Fundraising Event – Join CARA’s Community Partners for an afternoon of awareness, giveaways, workshops, vendors and live music! Learn about the red flags of domestic violence, what teen dating abuse is and how domestic violence affects children. Any donations raised will go directly to CARA to help victims and survivors begin to live a healthy non-violent life! Oct. 25, 6 to 8 p.m. at Historic Cape May County Courthouse Building, 9 N. Main St., Cape May Court House:
A Night of Awareness – From Victim to Survivor Candlelight Vigil – A presentation on domestic violence awareness, education and hope. Those who have gone from victims to survivors will speak and tell their stories of hope and perseverance in the face of adversity. There will also be a presentation from CARA staff on the services we provide and the ways in which the community can be part of the positive work being done at our agency. The evening will conclude with a candlelight vigil to remember those we have lost to domestic violence.
