From July 29 through July 30, Wildwood is hosting the annual Wildwood Beach Ultimate Tournament, the largest co-ed beach Frisbee tournament in the world. Held every July in the Wildwoods, the tournament first began in 1992. Today, it draws over 500 teams from the United States and around the world.
Beach Ultimate, originally known as Ultimate Frisbee, is a non-contact team sport played with a flying disc. Points are scored by passing the disc to a teammate in the opposing end zone of the playing field. Players must not take steps while holding the disc. Interceptions, incomplete passes and passes out of bounds are turnovers.
Teams participate in this action-packed tournament consisting of 4-on-4 competitions for players of various experience levels, ages 18 years and older. A traditional game is played until one team reaches 15 points.
Competitions will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Fields will be on the Wildwoods beaches. Admission is free for spectators.
