WEST CAPE MAY – The Cape May Artists’ Cooperative Gallery (COOP) will host an Associate Artist Member reception on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and the event is free and open to the public. The Associate Artist Membership is a program that offers artists who may not live in the South Jersey area or local artists that are contemplating Full Membership an opportunity to display and sell their art at the COOP. Currently there are six Associate Artists in addition to the 15 Full Member Artists who work and share space at the gallery. The COOP is located at 122 Sunset Blvd., West Cape May and there is free parking behind the gallery.
The Associate Artists’ work enhances the diversity of art offered at the gallery. Associate Artist Members include the works of: Kathy Dorsey Lucas, clay and sculpture artist; Katherine Jane Mlynarski, glass artist; Carol Hiemenz, oil painter; Anne Marie Zabielski, watercolor painter; Stephanie Snyder, watercolor and ink artist; and Kevin Sherwood, mixed media sculpture artist. New works will be featured at the reception and during the month of September.
The COOP currently has openings for Full and Associate Artist Members. All work is juried by the Full Membership. Artists interested in membership may contact Mary Stewart at the COOP for details.
The COOP is the first and only artists’ cooperative in the county whose mission is to foster local art and contribute to the understanding and appreciation of the visual arts in Cape May County. Owned and operated by its members, the COOP carries a diverse selection of members’ original work including paintings, glass, photography, mixed media, jewelry, works in wood, clay and paper, and fiber arts.
