WILDWOOD – The long-anticipated ground breaking for the Byrne Plaza event site in Downtown Wildwood is scheduled for Saturday, June 24 at 10 a.m. on Pacific Avenue at Oak Avenue.
The development of the Byrne Plaza event space is a joint effort between the Wildwood Business Improvement District (WBID), Cape May County and the Cape May County Open Space Board, the Byrne Foundation for the Wildwoods, Greater Wildwood Tourism Improvement and Development Authority (GWITIDA), Crest Savings Bank and the City of Wildwood.
This project has been made possible by an $825,000 investment by Cape May County to purchase the land with Open Space Funding. The Byrne Foundation for the Wildwoods has donated $775,000 to develop the Byrne Plaza site for Downtown Wildwood events. Additionally, Crest Savings Bank, Greater Wildwood Tourism Improvement and Development Authority and the Wildwood Business Improvement District have contributed towards the development of Byrne Plaza. Upon completion, Byrne Plaza will be managed by the WBID.
Designed by renowned architect Richard Stokes, Byrne Plaza will be a beautiful new location for Downtown Wildwood events including the Saturday morning Farmers Market, Tuesday Night Free Family Movies, Downtown Wildwood Marketplaces, the new Fall Harvest Market and more. Year round programming is also being planned.
Byrne Plaza updates will be posted at www.DOOWW.com and on Facebook Wildwood By the Sea. Please contact the Wildwood Business Improvement District at (609) 523-1602 or email wildwoodbusinessdistrict@gmail.com for additional information.
