This week we set out to Harbor View Restaurant & Bar in Cape May to find our featured local mixologist. We visited the outside bar and came across waterfront views, warm breezes, delicious cocktails and a friendly face that we chose to feature as this week’s bartender of the week.
Aurora Gangloff was born and raised in Cape May. Her parents purchased the Harbor View Marina in 1994 and put her to work right away, and in 2004 when the restaurant opened, she began working there as well. Being the owners’ daughter, naturally she did just about every job at the restaurant. At 18 years old she finally reached bartender status, sort of by accident. One of Harbor View’s bartenders called out last minute on a busy Saturday night during the summer, so Aurora was quick to jump in and help. Ever since then she has been serving up drinks behind Harbor View’s bar.
Aurora works at the Harbor View year round, and when she’s not working there she helps out at the marina’s tackle shop. In 2007, she graduated from Penn State with a degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management, which makes her the perfect fit for pleasing patrons and helping her parents run the restaurant and marina.
Aurora’s favorite part about working at Harbor View is the awesome people she gets to work with. Come visit Aurora and her coworkers at Harbor View during Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Relax on the outside deck and sip on Aurora’s favorite drink, Blake’s Blueberry Mojito, all while soaking up the sun and taking in the beautiful harbor views!
