September is National Breakfast Month! In honor of National Breakfast Month, we’ve decided to share with our readers some of our favorite places to wake up in Cape May County. Our breakfast tour of the shore starts offshore at Steve’s Café 47. Nestled along Route 47 in Dias Creek, this small yet lively breakfast spot offers fresh food, fast! Steve’s most popular dish among patrons is the Café Special, featuring four fluffy silver dollar pancakes, two eggs just the way you like them, and two crispy pieces of bacon for just $4. While breakfast specials change daily, this staple special is always available to please your palate. In a rush but still want the Steve’s experience? Call ahead and place an order for take out! Steve’s Café 47 is open daily year round serving breakfast and lunch from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Additionally, on Fridays and Saturdays in the summer, Steve’s serves dinner until 8 p.m.
Our next stop will have you waking up with a smile! The Waves Restaurant, tucked between Pacific and New Jersey avenues on Oak Avenue in Wildwood, offers a cheery atmosphere with one-of-a-kind menu items. Instead of your classic cup of coffee, start your day with some fresh cold brew made with homemade sweet Italian cream. When it comes time to order, choose from the many daily breakfast specials which are always changing, or go for the classic house special which includes a little bit of everything. One dish patrons keep coming back for is the Banella French Toast, made with fresh banana slices and topped with warm Nutella. If you can’t wait to sink your teeth into your sweet or savory breakfast dish, Waves provides complimentary homemade mini muffins to every table. Waves is open Friday through Sunday through the end of October serving breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Takeout and catering is available!
What would be a breakfast tour of the shore without a Jersey Shore tradition? Located off of Bayshore Road in North Cape May, Uncle Bill’s Pancake House has become a favorite among both locals and visitors alike. Uncle Bill’s offers a large variety of their famous, fluffy golden pancakes, of course, but also offers an extensive menu full of all of the breakfast items you love. As we enter the autumn season, Uncle Bill’s delicious pumpkin pancakes are available once again. Full of fall flavor, these warm pancakes are topped with homemade cinnamon butter, melting to perfection while waiting for you dig in! Enjoy this delectable dish now through Halloween. A gluten-free menu is available, featuring many types of pancakes and more so no one has to miss out on the tasty fun. Uncle Bill’s Pancake House of North Cape May is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving breakfast, and lunch starting at 11 a.m. Opt for takeout so you can enjoy this family tradition at home!
Experience breakfast with a twist at Rio Station, the last stop on this week’s tour. Situated off of Route 9 South in Rio Grande, this intimate, urban-themed restaurant offers all of your breakfast favorites with unique touches. Here, you won’t find just your average egg dishes! One dish you’ll find at Rio Station which you can’t find anywhere else is the “Build Your Own” Cast Iron Frittatas made in a cast iron skillet with three eggs and your choice of fillings, served with Jim’s redskin hash and toast. Try one of Rio’s many mimosas or a Bloody Mary with this unique meal! Other breakfast choices include the classic “$2.22” with two eggs, two pancakes and two pieces of bacon, as well as other dishes inspired by French-style cuisine. Rio Station is open daily year round serving breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner from 4 to 9 p.m. Rio Station’s full menu is available for takeout from open to close, so you can try these egg-stravagant dishes in the comfort of your own home!
