Bartender of the Week: The Princeton

This week’s featured local mixologist can be found serving up cold ones at Avalon’s favorite nightlife hotspot, The Princeton. Inside The Princeton’s beautiful brick walls and behind the sprawling marble-top bar is our bartender of the week, Josh Cooper, better known as Cooper.

Cooper joined The Princeton staff four summers ago, but is no stranger to the bartending world. After graduating college with a degree in Communications from Rider University, Cooper turned to bartending for some extra cash and never looked back. Now a 17-year bartending veteran, Cooper works at Ladder 15 and Mad River when living back home in the Philadelphia area during offseason, and The Princeton when living in Avalon for the summer.

When we asked Cooper how he landed his gig at The Princeton, he responded, “I didn’t want to be on the other side of the bar all the time.” He kept bothering “The Mayor” – Princeton’s head bartender which patrons and staff know him as – for the job until it was finally his.

Cooper’s favorite part about working at The Princeton is the environment. “Each room is different, and anyone can find something they like,” said Cooper, referring to the different music genres represented in each room of The Princeton.

When you can’t find Cooper at The Princeton, he’s likely hanging on the beach or sipping on his drink of choice, tequila. But when you do see him there, be sure to give him a friendly hello! Visit him during Margarita Monday for $5 Espolon margaritas and $7 Cabo margaritas, Tito’s Tuesday for $5 Tito’s mixed drinks and $7 Tito’s martinis, Ladies Nite Wednesday for $5 Prosecco drinks and giveaways, Skyy High Thursday for $5 Skyy mixed drinks and $8 Skyy martinis, or Suds Sunday for $3 Miller Lite and $4 Coors Light bottles. Friday through Saturday, have Cooper mix you up something special over the sounds of live entertainment by local bands and DJs!
