This week’s featured mixologist grew up in Cape May and has worked in local restaurants for years, but has only been behind the bar for the past few months. Say hello to the bartender of the week, Renie Aarvig at Harbor View Restaurant & Bar!
Renie’s family has a long history in the restaurant business, so it only made sense to stay in the industry she knew and loved. She has lived in Cape May her entire life and has served at restaurants all over town, but recently felt she needed a change of pace after years of serving. In April, she reached out to Fred & Irene to ask if she could bartend at Harbor View. The answer was yes, and she’s been there ever since!
Picking Harbor View for her first bartending job was an easy choice because she would always come to the bar to hang out and knew the staff, customers, and the owners. Only a few months later, she loves the people she works with and the opportunity to learn another side of the business that she had not previously explored. If you’re looking for a drink recommendation, Renie suggests the Rum Runners because they are the perfect fruity drink to enjoy out on the deck this summer.
When she’s not working, which is rare during the summer, Renie spends her time doing outdoor activities, like riding horses or fishing. Even when she’s away from the bar, she’s not always relaxing because she also runs a business, Linen Ladies, with her mom.
